Liposuction
Liposuction can be used to remove fatty deposits that cannot be removed simply by dieting or exercise. Typical areas are stomach, sides, thighs, back, chest and chins. The result is long lasting.
A small incision of about 0.5mm is made and a thin cannula is pushed and pulled through the fat layer beneath the skin to break up the fat cells and vacuum them up. The incisions are carefully located to make the scarring inconspicuous. We use one of the newest methods which is PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction) vibrating liposuction, which is a faster and kinder procedure.
Rest is recommended for at least 2 days after surgery. A compression garment also needs to be worn for 4 weeks after the procedure. After surgery, bleeding, swelling, oedema may appear. Bruising may take a few weeks to completely disappear. Pain may be felt for a few days but this is easily treated with regular painkillers.
Medical Risks
As medical techniques advance, so the problems become rarer. If they do occur, however, they can be treated accordingly. Problems may be bleeding, swelling, oedema, skin and nerve injury or anaesthetic reactions.
Other aspects such as uneven surface contours, skin discolouration, wound problems and assymetry can be corrected at a later date.
